FAQs
1. What species are the trees?
All trees are Nordmann Fir, also known as non-drop fir. Nordmann Firs are the most popular Christmas tree species in the UK because they hold their needles exceptionally well throughout the season, even in warm rooms. They have soft, glossy needles and a classic, full shape.
2. When will the trees be available?
Trees will be available to collect or order for delivery from late November 2026. We will announce the exact date on our social media and via our mailing list. If you want to be first to know, follow us on Instagram or ask to be added to our list.
3. How do I collect my tree?
Once you have reserved your tree and agreed a date with us, simply come to The Plough in Kings Walden at the arranged time. Trees are netted for easy handling and loading, so a standard car boot or roof rack will take most sizes up to 7ft. For 8ft and above, a van or trailer is recommended.
4. Do you deliver to homes?
Yes. We deliver within a local area for a flat fee of £25. Delivery is available on selected dates during the season. When you submit your enquiry, let us know your postcode and preferred date and we will confirm whether we can accommodate you.
5. Are the prices inclusive of VAT?
Yes. All prices shown are inclusive of VAT. There are no hidden extras. If you choose delivery, the £25 delivery charge is also inclusive of VAT.
6. Do I need to pay upfront to reserve a tree?
No. Reserving a tree through the enquiry form does not commit you to payment. We will confirm availability and agree a collection or delivery date with you, and payment is taken at that point. Reserving early simply means your size is held for you.
7. Can I see the tree before I take it?
Yes. If you are collecting from The Plough, you are welcome to look at the tree before you take it. Every tree is premium grade and hand-selected, so you can expect a well-shaped, full tree with dense foliage. If you are not happy with it for any reason, let us know.
8. How do I keep my tree fresh once it is home?
Cut an inch off the base of the trunk before putting it in a stand, then keep the stand topped up with water. Nordmann Firs drink well and will stay fresh and hold their needles for the whole season when watered regularly. Keep the tree away from direct heat sources such as radiators and open fires, which dry it out faster.
9. What does “netted” mean?
Netted means the tree has been wrapped in a fine mesh sleeve that compresses the branches for transport and handling. It makes the tree much easier to carry and fit through doorways. Once you have the tree in position, simply cut and remove the netting and the branches will spring back out to their full shape within a few hours.
10. What if I need a tree larger than 10ft?
Get in touch directly and we will see what we can do. Very large trees are subject to availability and lead time, so the earlier you ask the better.
